These people, though they were not clients, can tell you their opinions on the attorney with whom they have experience.

Research

Referrals are a great place to start, but that should not be where your search ends. You should still conduct your own research on right attorney for you and your case. Visit the firm’s website and read the descriptions of the attorneys. This will help you get a sense of specialties, education, certifications, and even organizations that they are members of.

Interview

This is where all of your previous work comes together. Here you can meet with the firm and specifically the attorney or team that will be handling your case. It is your chance to ask any remaining questions that you may have as well as get a feel for the relationship. As your attorney will be the strongest advocate for you, he or she should be someone you feel comfortable working with. You will be able to get a deeper sense into their personality, behavior, attitude, and perhaps even views on your case.
